K'sPATH

The Kuwait Society for the Protection of Animals and Their Habitat (K'S PATH) is a local non-profit organization committed to animal welfare, habitat and environmental protection, founded in 2005 by Ayeshah Al Humaidhi.
Royal Animal Hospital is pleased to support the efforts of K'sPATH in the rescue and re-homing of stray and abandoned animals, improving the local habitat and its education programmes.

Education

At the core of any effective change is an education program and community outreach program. The K'S PATH education program includes school visits, educational tours of animal related sites, and participation in public events. K'S PATH staff and volunteers cover a wide range of topics, from desertification and its impact on animals, to the plight of endangered sea turtles nesting on local shores. Our programs focus on basic kindness and compassion toward animals.

Companian Animals

K'S PATH provides world-class sheltering services for stray and unwanted companion animals. Our internationally recognized shelter houses an average of 100 dogs and 60 cats as well as small birds, parrots, hamsters, turtles, tortoises, rabbits and many other species at any given time.
However, at the core of the K'S PATH companion animals program is promoting the importance of sterilizing pet animals as the most effective way to reduce overpopulation. Finally, K'S PATH provides humane animal control services on a contract basis, and provides education and training for animal control initiatives across the country.

Wildlife

Illegal animal trade is the second biggest threat to species survival after habitat destruction. In the past decade, Kuwait has become a significant importer in this trade. Available in Kuwait's black market are lions, tigers, cheetahs, white lions, white tigers, bears, jaguars, endangered birds, gazelles, jackals, chimpanzees, baboons, and all manner of other illegal or protected animals.
K'S PATH and its partners are working to stop the illegal animal trade in Kuwait by rescuing animals, co-operating with the government to pursue enforcement of international laws, and educating the public about illegal trade.

Marine conservation

K'S PATH has launched a Marine Conservation Program, in partnership with en.v, and sponsored by Dow Chemical and ExxonMobil. This new program will include activities ranging from the development of centralised and public use waste facilities, diving and beach clean-ups, reef restoration and regeneration, and education.

Farm Animals

Kuwait imports nearly 1 million live animals per year. The process of transporting these live sheep and cattle from ports in Australia to Kuwait causes great suffering and death. K'S PATH believes the most effective means of improving the lives of farm animals in Kuwait is to educate the population about where their food comes from and their ability to make responsible food choices.
In addition, K'S PATH has rescued many equine and farm animals including goats, donkeys, horses, and ducks that have been found abandoned or neglected.

Migratory birds

During the fall and spring in Kuwait, millions of birds migrate from their breeding grounds in Europe and Asia to Africa. Sadly, there are hundreds of hunters in Kuwait that kill these beautiful birds indiscriminately. Many are endangered or threatened species.
K'S PATH is working towards stopping this cruel and inhumane practise through education and enforcement, K'S PATH has also rescued several birds that have been discovered injured. Sadly, these beautiful birds of prey can never be released due to the severity of their injuries, but they will live the rest of their lives being cared for by the staff and volunteers.

PAWS

PAWS is the longest established animal shelter in Kuwait and provides much needed support for stray, abandoned and abused animals. They rely entirely on donations and the generous time given by their team of dedicated volunteers. Crucial to their fundraising are two amazing events - the Annual Puppy Ball, an elegant evening affair, and the highlight for dog lovers is the PAWS Dog Show. It's always a day of fun for dogs and their owners 'on parade' in the grounds of the British Embassy. For more than 30 years since gaining her Animal Science qualification Bobbie has worked with animals - in veterinary hospitals, training dogs and in her own Grooming Shop.
Loved and respected by all her doggy clients and their human companions Bobbie offers exclusive 'one to one' training for all breeds.

Gillian Pirow - Dog Trainer

Gillian Pirow has been passionate about animals from an early age and her interest in dog training began over 30 years ago. Gillian comes from South Africa and has been working professionally in the field of dog behavior and training for over 13 years. She recently moved to Kuwait to work as Trainer and Behaviourist. She is internationally qualified through the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology in the United Kingdom and is a practitioner member of the international COAPE Association of Pet Behaviourists and Trainers. She is also a Certified Training Partner through the world-renowned Karen Pryor Academy in the USA. She works with dogs of all breed types catering to the dogs’ and their owners’ individual needs using proven scientific methods. She specializes in working with dogs that have behavior problems.
